Installation — after workspace setup

Open video directlyWorkspace prerequisite: use an existing Slack workspace if your team already has one. Otherwise, create a workspace in Slack with your work email, complete Slack's email confirmation and workspace setup, and follow your organization's permission rules. Confirm you can access the intended workspace and are authorized to install apps before continuing below. Creating a Slack workspace is not installing Slackalendar or establishing Slackalendar company ownership.
- 01Choose Add to Slack in the public site or open /slack/onboarding. The install link starts a browser redirect to Slack.
- 02Select the workspace and review and approve the permissions shown by Slack.
- 03After Slack returns to Slackalendar, sign in or create an account if asked. A pending installation can be continued after authentication.
- 04On /slack/onboarding, explicitly confirm the organization name and establish its owner. Organization setup is not completed before a successful Slack installation and your owner confirmation.
- 05Open /company to review organization administration and installation status. The person who installed Slack is not automatically the company's owner; ownership is established separately.
- 06To install another workspace, use Add to Slack from Settings or /slack/onboarding and follow the authorization flow.
Slack installation and company ownership are separate. Do not assume the installer owns the company or that installing grants any Slackalendar account membership.
Link your Slack user for direct messages
Link Your Slack Account and Choose Notifications

Open video directlyInstalling the workspace app and linking your personal Slack user are related but separate. Slack direct-message notifications require a linked user. Choose the Link Slack account control to visit /api/slack/account-link and complete Slack's identity verification. This is an explicit verified link; Slackalendar does not link accounts through automatic email matching. Linking a Slack identity does not grant company membership.
After linking, open Settings → Slack Integration to turn Slack notifications on or off. Review the task and team event preferences you want to receive. In-app alerts, Slack DMs, activity email and desktop notifications have separate controls; linking does not turn every channel on.
Link a channel to a team
Connect a Slack Channel to a Team
Captions are burned into the video and are not selectable. For a text version, continue with the written guide below.
Open video directly- 01Open the team page and open its management menu.
- 02Choose Slack Channel, then select a channel from the connected workspace.
- 03For a private channel, invite Slackalendar to that channel in Slack before selecting it.
- 04Alternatively, invite Slackalendar to a Slack channel to create a linked Slackalendar team with the same name.
- 05Save the selection. The team can now use that channel for supported task posts and optional daily updates.
Only a team owner can change the linked channel. Company ownership is independent of the Slack installer. If the workspace was connected before private-channel access was added, choose Add Another Workspace in Settings and select the same workspace to approve the updated permission. Unlinking a channel also turns off that team's scheduled daily update.
Disconnect Slack
An organization member with installation-management access can open Settings and choose Disconnect beside the workspace. You can reconnect later with Add to Slack. A Slack user link can also be removed separately from the workspace installation. Disconnecting Slack only affects the integration; it does not cancel a subscription or submit a billing cancellation request.
Sync channels and resolve setup problems
- 01For an existing company, its owner or delegated admin manages workspace installation. Slack may also require approval from a Slack workspace administrator. These are different permissions.
- 02After installation, check the workspace name in Settings → Slack Integration. Use Sync channels for that installation to discover eligible public channels and private channels the app has joined.
- 03Check Teams and the intended team's Slack Channel setting after sync. Existing unmapped teams are not automatically adopted into the company; ask the owner instead of creating duplicate links.
- 04If a channel is missing, invite the app to it in Slack, retry the channel list and verify the exact workspace. Reconnect the same workspace to approve missing scopes only when authorized.
- 05If authorization expires or is declined, restart setup from the same browser. If connection status fails to load, use Retry Slack connection check rather than assuming the saved installation is gone.
A completed sync does not prove every channel was imported; inspect the expected team/channel. Linking your personal Slack user proves identity only and never grants company/team membership. Slack is optional; continue web-only work while an administrator resolves installation approval.
