After installing Slackalendar and linking your Slack user, use /slackalendar followed by a subcommand. The command with no subcommand opens your assigned tasks.

  • /slackalendar — show your assigned tasks.
  • /slackalendar tasks (my, mytasks) — show your assigned tasks.
  • /slackalendar all — show tasks across your teams.
  • /slackalendar create (new, add) — open the task creation dialog.
  • /slackalendar calendar (cal) — show a calendar-style task summary.
  • /slackalendar calendar day|week|month [YYYY-MM-DD] — post a native calendar table in this channel. Omit the date to use today in the linked team's reminder timezone.
  • /slackalendar daily|weekly|monthly [YYYY-MM-DD] — shortcuts for the channel calendar tables. Monthly also accepts YYYY-MM.
  • /slackalendar search <query> (find) — search task titles and descriptions.
  • /slackalendar deps <task title> (dependencies) — view a task's dependencies.
  • /slackalendar nudge <task title> (requestupdate, request-update) — request an update.
  • /slackalendar complete <exact task title> (done) — mark a task complete.
  • /slackalendar status <exact task title> | <status> — change to a built-in or team-specific status. Use the exact title so the command cannot match a different task.
  • /slackalendar help — show the full command list in Slack.

Share a channel calendar

Use /slackalendar calendar day, /slackalendar calendar week, or /slackalendar calendar month in a channel where Slackalendar has been invited. Unlike the original private calendar summary, these tables are visible to everyone in the requesting channel.

  • Daily is a task table; weekly and monthly are Monday-to-Sunday calendar grids. Tasks appear on their due dates with their current status and assignee, including custom team statuses.
  • Only this channel's linked teams that you belong to are included. Other channels, workspaces, and teams you cannot access are excluded.
  • Use /slackalendar weekly 2026-10-14 to show the week containing a date, or /slackalendar monthly 2026-10 to show a month.
  • The linked team's reminder timezone determines today and timestamped due dates; date-only midnight-UTC deadlines keep their selected date. Where multiple accessible teams share a channel, the first team's timezone is shown and used.
  • Tasks without due dates are excluded. Busy grids show three tasks per day and a more count; daily tables show up to 40 tasks. Shortened tables have an explicit notice and a link to the full web calendar.
  • Tables are snapshots, not automatic daily reminders. Run the command again after changes; scheduled daily digests are configured separately in team reminder settings.
  • Run the command in a channel, not a DM. If Slackalendar lacks channel access, invite it; if permissions are missing, ask your workspace administrator to reconnect the installation.

Enable the Optional AI Assistant

Optional AI — not required for task management

Open video directly
  1. 01An organization member with access to installation settings opens Slackalendar Settings and finds AI Assistant beneath Slack Integration.
  2. 02Enter the organization's OpenAI API key and choose Save.
  3. 03Turn on Enable AI Assistant. Team members can then DM the Slackalendar bot with natural-language requests.
  • Ask what your tasks are or what is overdue.
  • Ask the assistant to create a task, search for work, or change a task's status.
  • The assistant uses task and team data the signed-in Slack user is allowed to access.
Keep in mind
The AI assistant is optional and requires an organization-provided OpenAI API key and enabled Slack processing. Keep keys private; never put them in a support request or task. Missing provider access is not solved by changing company membership. AI can make mistakes: verify the resulting task, status and assignee.

Claim an unassigned task

  1. 01Prerequisites: an active company membership, active membership of the task's team and your explicitly linked personal Slack identity in the exact workspace.
  2. 02Open an unassigned Slackalendar task post in its linked channel and choose Claim task when that action is present.
  3. 03Check the private reply and task assignee. A successful claim assigns you without changing the task's status or granting new membership.
  4. 04If someone else already claimed it, your action does not overwrite them. Ask the team owner about membership or use Settings → Slack Integration → Link Slack account if identity proof is missing.
Keep in mind
There is no claim slash command. Old posts may not have the action; team owners can use the available claim-action refresh control. A workspace install or an invitation that is still pending is not enough to claim work.

Try a channel workflow and troubleshoot commands

  1. 01Fictional example: Alex joins Website Launch in Cedar Studio and links the correct Slack identity. Morgan links #website-launch and invites Slackalendar to it.
  2. 02Alex runs /slackalendar create and creates Launch checklist. To find it later, run /slackalendar search launch (at least two characters).
  3. 03Run /slackalendar status Launch checklist | In Progress, then /slackalendar deps Launch checklist or /slackalendar nudge Launch checklist as needed.
  4. 04Run /slackalendar weekly 2026-10-14 only if the channel audience should see the snapshot. Use /slackalendar calendar for the original private summary.
  5. 05Run /slackalendar done Launch checklist when complete. Exact-title commands refuse ambiguous matches; open the web task if several tasks have the same title.
Keep in mind
If Slack acknowledges but gives no result, processing may be paused or a queued action may have failed. Ask the company owner to check job status. For missing tasks, check workspace, identity link and active team access before reinstalling. Native calendar table transport has isolated checks, not proof of rendering in every Slack client. Marketplace readiness is not Slack Marketplace approval.
